PURPOSE:To prevent a premature or uneven wear of hulling rolls by a method wherein, when the preventive actions of a preventing means for preventing breaker from breaking the circuit take place preset or more times within a preset time, a preset hulling rate is reduced by a prest reduction rate. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a hulling part 1 for removing husks from rice and a mixed rice sorting part 11 for classifying the mixed rice and a clearance between hulling rolls 3, 3 of the hulling part 1 is regulated based on the hulling rate detected by a hulling rate detector 31. When a load current detected by a load current detector 34 of the hulling roll exceeds breaker capacity, a preventing means 32 makes the clearance between rolls 3, 3 wider and/or adjusts an unhulled rice supply adjusting valve 24 to the reducing side to prevent the breaker from breaking the circuit. When the preventive actions of this preventing means take place preset or more times within a preset time, a preset hulling rate can be reduced by a preset reducing rate. As a result, overload on the hulling rolls can be prevented and a premature and uneven wear thereof can also be prevented.
