CHART FOR VERTICAL DIRECTION RESOLUTION MEASUREMENT AND RESOLUTION MEASURING METHOD

PURPOSE:To measure vertical resolution accurately and intuitively without production of harmonic component due to white/black stripes by arranging white black gradation levels on a plane corresponding to the vertical resolution to measure the vertical direction density of a stripe pattern in which the gradation levels are varied sinusoidally. CONSTITUTION:The vertical density of stripe pattern 3-1 to 3-8 is arranged corresponding to the vertical frequency to be measured. Then the chart is used and a TV camera picks up the chart, the output is observed in the horizontal direction mode of a waveform monitor to read directly the vertical resolution. For example, white/black pattern is scanned like a horizontal scanning line, the amplitude of an obtained output signal changes sinusoidally. Thus, the output signal includes no harmonics. Similarly, even in the vertical direction a loopback signal due to the harmonic component is caused. Thus, the horizontal mode of the waveform monitor is observed by horizontal scanning singly to measure the vertical frequency characteristic, then the vertical resolution is easily and intuitively measured.
