ANTI-MUTAGENIC ACTION SUBSTANCE ORIGINATED FROM HYDRANGEAE DULCIS FOLIUM

PURPOSE:To provide an agent for inhibiting or preventing the genetic toxicity, cancer, aging, etc., caused by mutagenic factors and employed in the fields of drugs, cosmetics and foods by compounding as an active ingredient a flavonoid substance which is a water-soluble extract from Hydrangeae Dulcis Folium and has a mol.wt. of =10000. CONSTITUTION:The agent contains as an active ingredient a flavonoid substance which is a water-soluble extract from Hydrangeae Dulcis Folium and has a mol.wt. of =10000. The flavonoid is prepared by following processes: finely cutting the Hydrangeae Dulcis Folium of a Saxifragaceae plant, immersing the finely cut pieces in purified water, filtering, separating the filtrate, washing the filtrate with the same amount of chloroform or ethyl acetate, concentrating the filtrate, adding the same volume of ethanol to the concentrated solution, stirring the mixture, allowing mixture to stand in a freezer, removing the precipitated depositions, washing the remained solution with methanol and subsequently drying the solution under vacuum.
