PURPOSE: To realize an interference-free receiving operation by increasing the transmission power temporarily to a level close to a maximum transmission power when the variation rate of receiving signal level or the rough estimate of error rate exceeds a predetermined threshold level. CONSTITUTION: Presence of a multipath state is observed by detecting the state of a signal Smp representative of an undue variation rate of signal level. When a multipath state is detected (Smp=1), state of a signal Serr representative of error state is observed at a point 22 and a decision is made whether an error state is present. In case of a state Serr=1, the multipath state and the error state are present simultaneously and a maximum transmission power Pmax is set at a point 23 and transmission processing is performed with that maximum power during a tie period T1 after final detection of simultaneous occurrence of the multipath state and the error state.
