PURPOSE:To renew zero point for measuring the steaming time for manufacturing tea and to measure the steaming time for manufacturing tea after renewal of the zero point by correcting the error caused by the deposition of tea grounds by properly changing the standard point for measuring the steaming time of tea leaf passing through a steaming drum. CONSTITUTION:Weight of tea leaf passing through a steaming drum is obtained by weighting the tea leaf in every frame which supports the steaming drum. On the other hand, the steaming time is measured by calculating the passing time of the leaf through the steaming drum, on the basis of a ratio of the weight of tea leaf passing through a steaming drum a set target value or a measuring present value per unit time of weight of raw tea leaf supplied from a leaf-feeding machine. At this time, the weight of steaming drum is again measured at a prescribed time after starting of steaming or renewal of zero point, or after supply of raw leaf is temporarily interrupted by a signal outputted by a prescribed operation and all the tea leaf leaves in the steaming drum are discharged and no tea leaf passes through. Thereafter, the weight of tea passing through the steaming drum is determined, based on this value again measured to be zero point.
