PURPOSE:To accurately determine conjugated type bilirubin in a short time by adding a specific aniline or pentacyano iron complex salt as a reaction promoter to bilirubin-containing aqueous specimen and treating the specimen with bilirubin oxidase. CONSTITUTION:A bilirubin-containing aqueous specimen is blended with an aniline shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are hydrogen atom, 1-4C alkyl group, hydroxyalkyl group, sulfoalkyl group, hydroxysuloalkyl group or sulfonamidoalkyl group; R3 and R4 are hydrogen atom, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxyl) or a pentacyano iron complex salt as a reaction promoter. The system is treated with bilirubin oxidase, change of bilirubin caused by the treatment is optically measured to determine an amount of conjugated type bilirubin during detection.
