ARTIFICIAL CAPITATE BONE AND ITS PREPARATION

PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial capitate bone with a sufficiently high strength even if a material with a small tensile strength such as a ceramic is used for a sphere of the capitate bone by placing a sleeve-shaped container which produces buckling when it is integrated in a body and contains a curable filler in a position between a bottom part and an apex part of a hole part. CONSTITUTION:A stem 2 of an artificial capitate bone 1 is constituted of a horn-shaped base end part 4 and an apex part 5 connected therewith in a convergently tapered cone shape and a capitate bone sphere 3 has an opening in the center of the lower part and a hole digged with the same taper as that of the apex part 5 of the stem 2. Then, a sleeve-shaped container 12 is placed concentrically to the apex face 7 of the stem 2 and the apex part 5 of the stem 2 is inserted in the hole part 6 of the capitate bone sphere 3 under a condition where a curable filler 13 is properly fed up to the upper end face of the sleeve-shaped container 12 and when a weak impact is applied on the apex 16 of the capitate bone sphere 3, the stem 2 and the capitate bone sphere 3 are tightly taper-fitted and the sleeve-shaped container 12 is compressed and deformed at the thin part 15 due to buckling and at the same time, the filler buries a gap S and is cured as it is.
