CATALYST FOR COAL LIQUEFACTION AND METHOD FOR LIQUEFYING COAL USING SAME

PURPOSE:To perform a reaction with a high degree of hydrogenation under mild conditions with a small amt. of a catalyst and to increase the efficiency of coal liquefaction by using an Ru-contg. catalyst as the catalyst for coal liquefaction. CONSTITUTION:An Ru-contg. catalyst obtd. by impregnating a soln. of an Ru compd. in an org. solvent or water into the oxide or sulfide of a metal such as Fe or Zr and drying the oxide or sulfide is used as a catalyst for coal liquefaction. Coal is allowed to react with hydrogen in the presence of a solvent and the Ru-contg. catalyst at about 350-520 deg.C under about 10-30MPa pressure for about 0-90min. Liquefaction with a high degree of hydrogenation is performed under such mild conditions with a very small amt. of the catalyst.
