PURPOSE:To apply this method to a part such as a welding work positioning pin by vapor-depositing alumina on a metallic main body with a substrate layer made of a relaxation agent in between to impart mechanical strength, an electric insulating property, wear resistance, etc., to the part. CONSTITUTION:Alumina 4 is vapor-deposited on the surface of a metallic main body 2. In this case, a relaxation agent such as a titanium compd. for reducing the difference in the thermal expansion coefficient is interposed between the main body 2 and the alumina 4 by chemical vapor deposition, etc. The alumina 4 is excellently deposited on the main body 2 by virtue of the agent. This method can be applied to a welding work positioning pin, a metallic mold extruding pin, etc.
