PURPOSE:To achieve simple structure, high processability, luminance improvement, and high fineness by providing a surface-insulated substrate having a plurality of electron passing holes and providing a control electrode comprised of conductive films which are so formed on the surface-insulated substrate as to be divided into a plurality of parts and to which passing electron control potential is applied. CONSTITUTION:An electron radiating source 1 which is for radiating electrons to a phosphor 5 put in a closed container and a control electrode 11 which is between the electron radiating source 1 and the phosphor 5 are provided and the control electrode 11 is comprised of conductive films 16a, 17a which are so formed as to be divided into a plurality of parts on a surface-insulated substrate 15 having a plurality of electron passing holes 12 and to which passing electron control potential is applied. As a result, the control electrode with small hole diameter and narrow hole pitch and high reliability is formed easily, and without lowering luminance, a flat-type display apparatus with high fineness is obtained.
