PREVENTING GROUND SINKING DUE TO EXTRACTION OF EARTH HOLDING MEMBER

PURPOSE:To prevent ground from sinking by attaching a thin plate for preventing earth and sand from adhering at the bottom of an earth holding member, leaving the plate in the ground when the earth holding member is extracted, and filling the cavity left after the earth holding member is extracted with filling material. CONSTITUTION:When steel sheet piles 10 connected to each other are driven into the earth E to form a temporary earth stop wall, a thin plate 12 is attached to the bottom end of the steel sheet piles 12. The thin plate 12 is bent in the middle of its length and turned back to form an approximate U shape. When the installation work is finished, the steel sheet piles 12 are extracted and the thin plate 12 is left in the deepest position where the steel sheet piles 10 are driven down. The cavity 14 formed when the steel sheet piles 10 are extracted is filled with a solidifying agent such as mortar. Thus the ground around the construction site and built structures are prevented from sinking.
