PURPOSE:To attain a secure diagnosis for life remainder by obtaining the remaining life of parts assembled body from test results for both parts deterioration characteristic and function of the assembled body including these parts and from a correlation for both, and adopting the lowest value. CONSTITUTION:An expert system 1 is constituted with a knowledge acquisition supporting device 2, inference device 3, user interface 4, outer system interface 5 and knowledge base 6, and the interface 4 is connected to a data system 7 for plant data management and a terminal system 8. The data input, revision, and debugging of the base 6 in which data for expert and experiential prevention maintenance work are stored capable of inference processing, are controlled by the device 2, and a practice of the inference using these data is controlled by the device 3. Then, in accordance with the remaining lives L1, L2, L3 obtained in each analyzing part of parts deterioration (a) for system 1, device function (b) and correlation (c), the minimum value is made to the most suitable remaining life L by a life remainder evaluation part (d). With this arrangement, the life remainder of an object to be diagnosed is predicted securely and rapidly, thereby the perfect preventive maintenance can be expectedly performed.
