TOCOTRIENOL IN TREATMENT OF CHOLESTEROLEMIA, LIPIDEMIA AND CEREBRAL THROMBOSIS

PURPOSE: To prepare a pharmaceutical composition, comprising a specific tocotrienol homolog and useful for reducing the blood total and low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition comprises substantially pure -tocotrienol of formula I, substantially pure -tocotrienol of formula II, substantially pure tocotrienol or a mixture thereof as an active ingredient. The composition is useful for reducing blood serum cholesterol and blood serum LDL- cholesterol level, reducing the blood platelet aggregation to adenosine diphosphate (ADP), epinephrine (EPI) and collagen in blood platelet-rich blood plasma and the whole blood and reducing a thromboxane A2 (TXA2 ) and a blood platelet factor 4 for obtaining antithrombotic effects in a bird or a mammal. The compound is applied as a prodrug, especially an ester of nicotinic acid, succinic acid or acetic acid.
