PROTECTING TOOL TO DIE FOR FORGING IN CONTINUOUS CASTING STRAND

PURPOSE:To extend service life of a die by holding arms as shakable through hinging pins parallel set to drawing direction of continuous casting strand, fixing protecting members to the arm and covering forging face in the die. CONSTITUTION:Forging is executed to neibor range of solidified completing point of the continuous casting strand (s) drawn from a mold for continuous casting with the dies 2a, 2b. The protecting tool 3 is arranged to this die 2b. At least one in the arms 3b is held as shakable through the hinging pin 3a parallel set along the drawing direction of continuous casting strand (s). The protecting member 3c is held to fix to shaking end of the arm 3b and the forging face (h) of die 2b is covered with this. Main body of the arm 3b is shaken together with the protecting member 3c with a driving device 4. By this method, wear and breakage of the die for forging caused by dummy bar, etc., can be prevented.
