PURPOSE:To easily and continuously carry out quantitative analysis by determining sulfur trioxide through the measurement of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen chloride and expressing the obtained value in terms of sulfur trioxide. CONSTITUTION:A gas to be tested of a hydrogen sulfide concn. measuring system A is sucked through a gas sampling tube 3 and introduced into a reactor 8. The sulfur trioxide in the gas reacts with solid iron sulfide and pure water to generated hydrogen sulfide, and the sucked gas contg. hydrogen sulfide is dehydrated 12, measured by a flowmeter 14 and introduced into an automatic hydrogen sulfide measuring instrument 15. The measured hydrogen sulfide molarity signal is sent to a recorder 16 and graphed. Meanwhile, a gas to be tested of a hydrogen chloride concn. measuring system B is sucked through a gas sampling tube 3a and sent to an automatic hydrogen chloride measuring instrument 19 from a flowmeter 14a through a dehydrator 12a. The measured hydrogen chloride molarity signal is graphed by the recorder 16. Half of the measured hydrogen chloride molarity is then subtracted from the hydrogen sulfide molarity, and the obtained value is detected as the molarity of sulfur trioxide.
