PURPOSE: To use one amplifier, minimize a reset time, and simplify a circuit and lower the cost by applying a digitally composed serrodyne waveform to a single phase modulator of a closed loop optical fiber gyro. CONSTITUTION: The digital composition serrodyne has its circuit constitution simplified by connecting the output signals of an up counter 33 of a positive serrodyne generator 26 and a down counter 34 of a negative serrodyne generator 27 to the input terminal of an adding means 35. The output of the adding means 35 is supplied to a fast digital/analog converter DAC 40 and further an amplifier 41, whose output terminal is connected for driving the phase modulator 20. Consequently, one fast DAC 40 and one amplifier 41 each are used and the reset time can be minimized. Further, the constitution is all made digital except a phase sensing demodulator 24, an integrator 25, and the DAC 40 and the cost is reducible.
