SUPPRESSION OF ACCUMULATION OF ANOMALOUS EXPRESSION VECTOR DURING FERMENTATION

PURPOSE: To control aberrant expression vector replication during fermentation, by adding at least a bacteriostatic concentration of an antibiotic such as a DNA synthesis inhibitor or an enzyme inhibitor to a fermentation mixture at approximately the time at which product expression is induced. ;CONSTITUTION: At approximately the time at which product expression is induced, an antibiotic selected from a DNA synthesis inhibitor, a cell wall synthesis inhibitor, an enzyme inhibitor and a vitamin analog in an amount to prevent the cell division of a microorganism is added to a fermentation mixture. Consequently aberrant expression vector replication during fermentation is controlled. The concrete example of the DNA inhibitor includes nitrofurna, cinoxacin, oxolinic acid, pipemidic acid, etc. The cell wall synthesis inhibitor includes penicillins, cephalosporins, vancomycins, etc. Clavulanic acid may be cited as the enzyme inhibitor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
