PURPOSE:To provide sufficient suppressing function against surge current and to considerably reduce its size as compared with prior art by composing a core of thin amorphous magnetic alloy strips subjected to layer insulation. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic component A composed of windings 3, 8 inserted between a high voltage DC power source 41 and a load 4 and a core 2 in order to suppress surge current generated through discharge of stray capacity 1 existing between the power source 41 and the load 4 at the time of short circuit of the load 4, the core 2 is composed of thin amorphous magnetic alloy strips subjected to layer insulation. For example, the core 2 is composed of thin iron group amorphous magnetic alloy stripes. Stripes composed of Fe81B13.5Si3.5C2, for example, are insulated with polyimide films to form a toroidal core 2, then a primary winding 3 and a secondary winding 8 are provided on the core 2, and a resistor 9 for consuming energy is connected with the winding 8, thus composing a surge current suppressing magnetic component A.
