The installation folds in the side flaps of the ends of hose sections drawn up into base squares during the production of large sacks with cross-over bottoms. There is a conveyor transporting the drawn-up hose sections intermittently. The installation includes a traverse positioned transverse to the direction of conveyor movement guided above the base square moved by the conveyor into the processing position and capable of being raised and lowered by drive devices within the machine frame. The traverse has longitudinally extending guides for two sliding sections each with two arms extending sideways carrying pressure ledges at their ends. The sliding sections are movable in their guides on the traverse in opposite directions. There are suction devices fitted to arms fitted with drive system which can be lowered onto the outer areas of the side folds.
