PURPOSE:To provide the subject apparatus ensuring smooth motion of jacquard and smooth return action and giving a woven fabric free from weaving fault by inserting an extensible member in a long and thin pipe and connecting a heald wire having a specific constitution to the member. CONSTITUTION:A part of the outer circumference of the top of a long and thin pipe 1 is slightly constricted to form a bulged part 2. Heald wires 4, 5 are connected to the upper and lower ends of an extensible member 3 inserted into the pipe 1. The upper heald wire 4 is passed through the pipe 1 and the bulged part in such a manner as to allow free passage of the wire through the pipe by the force stored in the extensible member 3. The outer circumference of the connected part of the lower heald wire 5 is bonded and fixed to the lower end of the pipe 1. When a hook is in a free state, the lower heald wire is lowered by the power stored in the extensible member 3. When the hook is lifted by engaging with a knife, the extensible member 3 is extended in the pipe 1 by the tension of the heald wires 4, 5.
