KNITTING OF THICK AND TOUGH KNIT FABRIC HAVING LOW STRETCHABILITY

PURPOSE:To obtain a knit fabric resistant to collapse using a weft knitting machine by making the preceding course plain stitch loop of the needle of the 1st needle bed to a transfer state and repeating the knitting to feed a yarn to the needle of the 2nd needle bed and the knitting to perform a course of plain stitch with both needle beds. CONSTITUTION:The weft knitting machine used in the present process is provided with a transfer lock capable of selectively introducing a knitting needle to a loop-transfer orbit or a loop-receiving orbit in the same phase of single knitting block capable of guiding a knitting needle to three positions comprising knit, tack and welt. The preceding course plain stitch loop hooked to a needle of the 1st needle bed 1 is transferred to the opposite needle of the 2nd needle bed during the transfer state and, at the same time, a yarn is newly supplied to the needle of the transfer-side of the needle bed to perform the knitting operation. The above process and a process for knitting each one course of plain stitch with both needle beds are alternately repeated.
