PURPOSE:To accurately detect the speed at the sampling point of time in a state reduced in time delay by dividing the quantity of rotation of a motor per one pulse of an encoder by the pulse cycle of a signal most reduced in time delay to calculate a speed. CONSTITUTION:When an interruption signal pulse is inputted to a CPU 31 at a definite interval from a sampling timer 4, the CPU 31 executes the processing procedure preliminarily stored in a program memory 32. An encoder 2 generates the pulse of the multiphase signal pulse proportional to the quantity of rotation of a motor 1 and a cycle measuring means 5 measures the pulse cycle of said multiphase signal and that of the reversal signal thereof. Measuring means 5 detects the rotary direction of the motor from the generation order of the pulses of the respective multiphase and reversal signals and divides the quantity of rotation per one pulse of the encoder 2 by a pulse cycle most reduced in time delay to calculate a speed. As a result, the error of speed data is reduced and speed controllability can be enhanced.
