INSTRUMENT FOR DETECTING LEAKAGE OF MOLTEN METAL AND INSTRUMENT FOR DETECTING ELECTRIC POTENTIAL

PURPOSE:To detect leakage of molten steel over the whole circumference of a tundish by setting plural electric conductive electrodes and to prevent serious accident from occurring by detecting molten steel electric potential, comparing this with the reference value and detecting the leakage or penetration of the molten steel in the tundish. CONSTITUTION:The electric potentials of the electrodes 11 of No.1 strand and No.2 strand are converted into digital data with A/D converters 14, respectively and given to a process controller 15. The controller 15 calculates the detected reference electric potential Vs from inputted heating power at the time of induction-heating by conducting only to an induction heating coil 6 in the one side of strand and calculates the absolute value Vd of the difference of outputted data in two A/D converters 14 and at the time of being VdVs, the leakage of molten steel is informed. On the other hand, the mean value Vm on the outputted data in two A/D converter 14 is calculated and at the time of being VmVs, the leakage of molten steel is informed.
