METHYL METHACRYLATE GRAFT POLYMER OF CROSSLINKED NATURAL RUBBER AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To produce a methyl methacrylate graft polymer of a crosslinked natural rubber, which causes no environmental or air pollution in the final producing step of a rubber product from it and can be formed into medical goods little influencing the living organism, by mixing a crosslinked natural rubber latex with methyl methacrylate and irradiating the mixture with an ionizing radiation. CONSTITUTION:A crosslinked natural rubber latex (a precrosslinked natural rubber latex may be used as the starting material or the process may be started with crosslinking a natural rubber latex by an appropriate method) is mixed with methyl methacrylate, and the mixture is irradiated with an ionizing radiation, thus producing a methyl methacrylate graft polymer of the crosslinked natural rubber latex. The resulting product causes no environmental or air pollution in the final producing step of a rubber product from it and can be formed into medical goods little influencing the living organism.
