PURPOSE:To reduce the cargo handling time by providing guide rails for container hanging carrying trucks above a container train railroad siding and container placing sites disposed on both side portions of the siding in parallel to the railroad siding, and connecting the respective guide rails to each other by connecting rails in the above apparatus for the container train. CONSTITUTION:Placing sites 2 for containers A are formed on both sides of a container train railroad siding 1. The first to third guide rails 4 - 6 for carrying trucks 3 adapted to hang and carry the container A are disposed above the railroad siding 1 and the container placing sites 2 in parallel to the railroad siding 1. Further, the guide rails are connected to each other by connecting guide rails 7. In this arrangement, the plural containers A on a container train B on the railroad siding 1 are hung by the plural trucks 3 guided by the first guide rails 4 and carried to the designated placing site 2.
