A pipeline bend detector pig for measuring the changes in direction of a pipeline having a first pig body assembly (10) with an imaginary longitudinal axis (56) and spaced apart resilient cups (22, 24) for supporting the pig body assembly (10) in a pipeline so that the axis thereof is at least approximately the axis of the pipeline and for impeding flow of fluid past the pig so that the pig is propelled by fluid flow through the pipeline and a second pig body assembly (12) also having an imaginary longitudinal axis (58) and means (54) for support thereof within a pipeline so that the axis thereof is at least approximately the axis of the pipeline, a universal joint (64) connecting the front end (50) of the second pig body assembly (12) to the rear end (18) of the first pig body assembly (10) and an integrator plate (28) and finger assembly (30) with the first pig body assembly (10) arranged so that the fingers (30) are deflected upon the deflection of the internal wall (20) of the pipeline to thereby deflect the integrator plate (28) an instrument (44) responding to the deflection of the integrator plate (28) and cables (68) connecting at least three of the fingers (30) to points on the second pig body assembly (12) spaced from the longitudinal axis (56, 58) so that as the axis (58) of the second pig body (12) is deflected at an angle relative to the axis (56) of the first pig body (10), the cables (68) pull on the fingers (30) deflecting the integrator plate (28) and providing a record of the angular deflection of the second pig body (12) relative to the first pig body (10) which is indicative of a change of direction of the pipeline.
