摘要

Basic Fe(III) carboxylate cpd. for photosensitising polyolefin and polystyrene polymers is prepd. from a water sol. Fe(III) salt and an R-COOH carboxylic acid, where R = 5-20C alkyl gp., 20-24C alkenyl gp., 2-5C alkyl or alkenyl gp. substd. by a phenyl gp. or a phenyl gp. substd. with 1-4C alkoxy gp., A 1-8 wt.% alkali hydroxide soln. is prepd. up to an equimolar quantity of the R-COOH acid is added to the hydroxide. Based on 1 mol. of the carboxylic acid, 0.4-0.6 mol. Fe(III) salt is added in an aq. soln. at 70-90 deg.C. A buffer is added when the pH falls to pH 9 during addn. of Fe(III) salt. Finally pH values are allowed to fall to 8-5 on completion of the reaction and the pptd. prod. is isolated. - The invention also applies to polymer master batches and compsns. contg. photosensitisers of this type.(Dwg.0/1)
