Ship motion-damping system - has trim flaps subjected to lengthwise and transverse forces when tilted downwards

The motor ship motion-damping system has trimmer flaps (2', 3') mounted at opposite sides near the stern. These tilt up and down on transverse axes from the middle position. When tilted downwards, the force entered on the flaps when travelling ahead is composed of one running aft parallel to the axis of the ship, and one acting in the transverse direction.
