Computer database system having dual field sorting - either field can be sorted alphanumerically to search for particular record

The data which forms each record is entered into a number of fields, e.g. name, address, postcose, town and telephone number. When a number of records has been entered into the database, the user can select two of the fields from several records for display on the visual display unit. The user can decide to display one or other of the fields, sorted in alphanumeric order. The corresponding data in the other field for each record will be displayed alongside the selected one. As an example, the user may select all records of a particular surname and then check the names of the towns alongside. Alternatively, the user can select a particular town and then check the names.
