Purificn. of water contg. iron ions and organic materials - involves treating with hydrogen peroxide and alkali to ppte. iron (III), adding carbonate precipitating agent and treating with e.g. ozone
Purificn. of contaminated water contg. dissolved Fe ions, opt. halogenated organic impurities and carbonate and/or bicarbonate ions, comprises: (A) mixing the contaminated water with H2O2 soln. under alkaline conditions to form an Fe(III) contg. ppte. and sepg. the Fe (III) contg. ppte.; (B) removing the (bi)carbonate ion by adding one or more carbonate precipitating agents to form a carbonate ppte. and sepg. the carbonate-contg. ppte. to form a stream contg. predominantly organic impurities. Pref. this stream is subjected to at least one treatment chosen from treatment with ozone, treatment with UV radiation, treatment with a solid catalyst and treatment with H2O2.
