On the basis of research into the production of synthetic β-wollastonite, a new product has been obtained which is characterized by being a binary product based on β and α wollastonites, in which the β form appears in percentages of between 70% and 80% and the α form represents between 20% and 30% from quartz, calcite and calcium oxide, with the addition of sodium hydroxide acting as a mineralizer. The process of preparation starts with a ground mixture of the reagents and the working cycle involves two stages: a first in which a maximum temperature plateau between 1150 degree C and 1250 degree C is reached rapidly after 30 minutes heating, and the second in which the said plateau is maintained for two to four hours.
