The degree of damping is determined by a throttling arrangement, via which a medium in the cylinder (8) passes when the piston in the cylinder moves. The piston connecting rod (10), together with the piston, forms a common, integrated unit which with the aid of its location in bearing devices in the cylinder has a resistance to bending. The latter reduces the locking and interference tendencies during the function of the damper, even in the end positions of the piston. The cylinder space is connected to a shunt channel, in which the medium is conducted between the front and rear sides of the piston when the latter moves.
