Acrylamide-based polymer matrix comprises an acrylamide copolymer pref. with =1 of: acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, methacrylamide, their derivatives and the salts of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. In particular a copolymer of acrylamide and 20-60 mole % of methacrylic acid is used. In some determinations it is pref. to use alkali metal or alkaline-earth metal salts of (meth)acrylic acid in the copolymerisate. Polymer matrix improves specificity of bonding of enclosed (immobilised) antibodies and avoids undesirable reactions during radioimmunological determination of hormones and pharmaceutical prods. Because of the high specificity, the determinations may be effected using serum directly, without any extraction.
