The invention relates to a device for utilizing part of the heat content of the waste gases emerging from one or more boilers through a chimney. The device has at least one convective heat transfer surface arranged downstream of the heating surface of the boiler or boilers in relation to the direction of flow of the waste gases. In the chimney itself and downstream of the latter there is in each case a temperature sensor, the temperature difference determined by these sensors serving for regulating the residual heat content of the waste gases. The essence of the device according to the invention is that a two-way member actuated by a controller is installed in the line for a coolant to be conveyed to the heat transfer surface. The input of the controller has connected to it the output of a temperature sensor arranged in the outlet cross section of the chimney and the outputs of a dew-point temperature measuring instrument located in the line for the waste gas emerging from the boiler or boilers and also an output to the actuating member of the two-way member, the said output transmitting an actuating signal proportional to the difference between the input values and corresponding to the sign.
