A coolant temperature indicator device in liquid-cooled internal combustion engines, having a cooleant temperature sensor which displays a predetermined electrical signal, such as a voltage, resistance and/or switch signal, in dependance upon at least one predetermined temperature value of the coolant, having a coolant temperature indicator formed as a pointer instrument which reproduces the signal of the temperature sensor as an optical temperature indication value, and having a switch device which is connected to the indicator in such a way that the latter effects and indicated value differing from the indicated value effected by the signal value of the coolant temperature sensor, characterised in that an electronic programme control device is connected as a switch device between the coolant temperature sensor and the coolant temperature indicator, which programme control device evaluates the signal values of the coolant temperature sensor and connects to the pointer instrument, in the range of the normal working temperature of the coolant, a signal value remaining at least approximately constant for a mean normal working temperature indication value.
