ACCESS ASSEMBLY FOR UNDERGROUND IRRIGATION SYSTEMAND ACCESSING ASSEMBLY COOPERABLE THEREWITHAbstract of the DisclosureApparatus (10) for enabling a sprinkler headassembly (12) to be detachably mounted on an irrigationsystem riser pipe (14) containing water under pressurein accessed relation to the water under pressure withinthe riser pipe. The apparatus comprises an accessassembly (16) adapted to be rigidly secured to the riserpipe and an accessing assembly (18) adapted to be rigidlysecured to the sprinkler head assembly. The access as-sembly include separate main and pilot pressure valvemechanisms (48 and 122) containing the water under pres-sure within the riser pipe. Both assemblies includedetachable interengaging connectors (138 and 140) forestablishing a mechanical connection between the twoassemblies by a simple and convenient manual movement.The accessing assembly includes a quick connectionfitting (136) for accessing the water under pressurethrough the pilot pressure valve mechanism which ismounted in a cooperating quick connection fitting.The accessing assembly includes an operatingmechanism (156) movable in response to the communicationof pilot water under pressure therewith to open themain valve mechanism and provide water pressurerigidification to the mechanical connection betweenthe two assemblies.
