-12-Abstract of the DisclosureA method and an apparatus are provided fortesting final coating layer thicknesses on motor vehiclebodies by means of measuring probes moved along a body byway of automatic manipulators. A measuring probe (20),disposed in a guide member suspended on gimbals, isattached to the surface of the body by means of a suctioncup (15), an inner stop ring (16) and a spring (21) whichcooperate to ensure that the measuring probe is appliedwith a specific pressure.
