METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CORECTING RANDOMWALK ERRORS INDUCED BY RATE REVERSALSIN A DITHERED RING LASER GYROSCOPEABSTRACT OF DISCLOSUREA correction to the output angle of a ring laser gyroscope iscalculated as a function of the phase difference and the magnitude ofcoupling between the two counterpropagating beams when the ditheroscillations change direction. A pair of heterodyne detectors produceheterodyne signals indicative of the interference pattern between thecounterpropagating beams. A signal indicative of the sum of the separatebeam intensities is demodulated with the heterodyne signals to determinethe magnitude of coupling between the beams in the ring laser gyroscope.
