OPHTHALMIC PRISMATIC IMAGE RELOCATING EYE GLASSES FOR PERSONS HAVING RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA AND HEMIANOPIA AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME

A pair of rotatable optical image deflectorassemblies is disclosed which are detachablymounted via an adapter bracket to a conventionaleye testing apparatus. Each optical imagedeflector assembly has a fixed light reflectingoptical element, and a pivotal reflecting opticalelement. The optical image deflector assemblydirects light onto a peripheral area of a visuallysensitive or functional area of the retina whichis normal to the central field of the retina. Thepivotal optical element scans a pre-set fieldexpanding test chart and projects an image thereofto the visually sensitive or functional area ofthe retina. The optical image deflector assemblyis usable in making prismatic eye glasses toexpand the normal central field of view of aperson suffering from retinitis pigmentosa orhemianopia. The prismatic eye glasses refractimages from a field outside the normal centralfield of view within and along the peripheral edgeof the visually sensitive central area of theretina for expanding the normal central field ofview.
