The house-circuit control system described comprises a battery-buffered control unit (76) and a lighting-current supply (74) used as a bi-directional digital data track for standardized scanned constant-frequency signals. The control unit (76) receives commands from sensors and its own microprocessors and transmits control signals to actuators (84). The mains modems (12) in the control unit (76), sensors (88) and actuators (84) match the transmit power in inverse proportion to the impedance at the transmission frequency of the connected mains supply. A switch for the automatic circuit control system comprises a multifunctional switch (16) connected to the lighting-current supply (74) via an integral mains modem (12) and a digital connection element with a passive infrared (PIR) sensor (14) for the operation of light, temperature and safety circuits. The PIR sensor (14) is activated by the control unit (76).
