For modifying the parameters ( alpha i) of an adaptive recursive network (ANW), correction signals (U(n)) are needed which are in each case formed from the product of the signal of the sign function (sign(x)) of the associated gradient (dA(n)/d alpha i) of the output signals (A(n)) of the network (ANW) with respect to the network parameters ( alpha i) and from the associated difference signal (D(n)) of mutually corresponding nominal (S) and output signals (A(n)). The proportionality factor (K) preferably corresponds to the inverse value of twice the number (m) of parameters ( alpha i) to be adapted in the network (ANW).
