Spherical, cellular silicone rubber microparticles and method for their preparation

Spherical, cellular silicone rubber microparticles, having internal microcells, are produced with an apparent specific gravity in the range of 0.05 to 0.5 g/cm³ and an average particle size in the range of 10 to 5000 micrometers. The microparticles can be produced by dispersing a foamable, liquid curable silicone rubber composition in a liquid, then contacting this dispersion with a liquid residing at a higher temperature to simultaneously induce foaming and cure of the composition to give the microparticles.
