Thermotropic adducts from non-mesogenic species bound by hydrogen bonds and method for their preparation

Thermotropic adducts corresponding to the general formula: IMAGE in which: SIGMA denotes a group forming at least two hydrogen bonds with the additional functional group denoted by the symbol SIGMA ; A and B denote appropriate substitutions carried by the functional groups SIGMA and SIGMA , which contribute in combination with the structure of the central unit SIGMA - SIGMA to inducing the thermotropic property; p and q = 1 or 2. The central unit SIGMA - SIGMA is derived especially from the complementary pairs: cytosine/isocytosine, guanine/cytosine, adenine/uracil, 2,6-dialkanamidopyridine/uracil and 2,6-dialkanamidopyridine/thymine. The substitutents A and B are, in particular, long aliphatic hydrocarbon chains which may contain one or more heteroatoms, which are branched and have at least 28 atoms.
