Use of zwitterionic, basic zwitterionic cellulose ethers in hair-protecting agents

Amphoteric and zwitterionic water-soluble cellulose ethers, which average, for each anhydroglucose unit, at least 0.1 amino and/or ammonium group and at least 0.1 carboxyl group as well as, optionally, a number of ether-like bound alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups with 1 to 4 atoms of C required to make them water-soluble, are suitable as additives for cleaning and conditioning hair-care products, which make the hair easier to comb. Preferably, the product contains 0.01 to 5 weight percent of the amphoteric and zwitterionic cellulose ether and 0.1 to 25 weight percent of a tenside.
