The vacuum tank is for cleaning flushing and emptying drains, road surfaces etc, having a union for attachment of a pressure or suction pipe, together with a pump. Pipes between pump and tank interior allow build-up of a pressure or vacuum, the pump being contained in a fresh-water tank separated from the main one. The pump(8) is of the water-ring type and mounted at or near the bottom of the fresh-water tank, its inlet opening (9) being connected to the part of the tank (5) containing the fresh water (7). ADVANTAGE - Low cost and requires little maintenance.
