It is known that because of the spatial distance between data source and multiplexer or demultiplexer and terminals, a special line transmission must be provided in future broadband transmission networks for digital television, audio broadcasting, video telephony and other data signals. In CMI-coded transmission of the information items, an additional transmission of the clock signal can be omitted since this is generated at the receiving end by clock generator synchronised by the CMI-coded signal. The circuit arrangement according to the invention (Figure 1) generates from a CMI-coded signal CMI a corresponding binary data signal D and essentially consists of a first delay section 3, an EXOR gate 4 and a D-type flip flop 9. The clock signal T belonging to the data signal D is obtained directly from the CMI-coded signal CMI by means of the first delay section 3, a first and a second NOR gate 5 and 6, a second delay section 7 and an inverter 8. The first delay section 3 has a delay time of half a bit period and the second delay section 7 has a delay time of a whole bit period. If the circuit arrangement is constructed in ECL technology, signals of up to more than 70 MHz can now be processed because only the relatively fast switching elements of a circuit family are used.
