An actuation device for toggle clamps of cable cars which can be coupled consists of a run-up rail (4) for the actuation arm (6) of the toggle lever (8) which acts on a clamp spring (7), and of a device for testing the clamping force, with a control rail (12), supported on a force measuring device (14), for the actuation arm (6). In order to ensure reliable monitoring of the clamping forces which occur, the actuation arm (6) of the toggle lever (8) is guided between the run-up rail (4) for closing the clamps (1) and a counter-rail (5) which in its end region forms the control rail (12).
