In this turn-off limiting network for limiting the slope of the returning voltage after the turn-off of a GTO thyristor, the series circuit of a capacitor (C1, C2) and a diode (D11, D12) is connected in parallel with each GTO thyristor (T1, T2). The common diode-capacitor junctions are combined via the primary winding of a transformer (L3), the parallel connection of a capacitor (C3) with a resistor (R3) and a diode (D3). The secondary winding of the transformer (L3) is connected via a diode (D4) to the direct voltage source supplying the inverter. To reduce the power dissipation, some of the capacitor energy is fed back into the direct-voltage source via the transformer (L3). The additional introduction of the RC element (R3, C3) ensures rapid demagnetisation of the transformer (L3) without using control components. IMAGE
