The invention relates to a method and a device for balancing universal joints and articulated shafts consisting of the latter and an intermediate part (adaptor). The unbalance compensation is performed by displacing the crosslinks (journal cross assemblies, yoke journal assemblies) with respect to the fork-type joints. This permits the mounting of the bearing safety devices and the balancing operation to be combined to form one operation. Separate balancing weights and the provision of balancing bores are superfluous.
