This tensioning device comprises: - a frame (1) defining a centre plane, - a pelvic support connected to the frame (1) and adjustable laterally with respect to the said centre plane, - two arms (4,8) articulated in the said centre plane, the first arm (4) being a central tensioning arm articulated in such a way as to be moveable horizontally and vertically, the second arm (8) being a central counter-extension arm articulated in such a way as to be moveable horizontally, the arms being provided with means for locking them in their position and with tensioning means. The means for locking of the central arm (4) comprise a clamping connection piece (34) coaxial to the arm and manoeuvrable in rotation, passing through meridian slots (27,29) crossed by two spherical spindles (26,28) articulated on orthogonal axes, the connection piece (34) comprising two inverse threads cooperating with jaws (37,39) moveable in translation on the connection piece (34) and situated on each side of the crossing of the spindles in such a way as to bring about, by means of their coming together or their mutual moving apart, the frictional locking or the unlocking of the arm.
